On Thursday, February 6th Ka’anapali Beach Resort Chefs and Maui County Farmers came together for an oceanside evening of culinary discussion on Ka’anapali Beach Hotel’s Kiawe Lawn as we enter into the third year of Ka’anapali Fresh, the resort’s signature event.
The Mixer encouraged the development of farmer and chef relationships, an important element to increasing the distribution of local fare.
Ka’anapali Farmers and chefs came prepared to share information about their businesses and spent the evening exchanging information and a summary of types of products raised their farms, quantities, and production practices. The event featured “speed dating” in which farmers and restaurants met sequentially to share information on types and quantities of seasonal produce available.
This mixer serve as “match-maker” between Ka’anapali chefs & farmers with the goal being to increase the amount of food that is purchased from local farmers by our resorts restaurants.
