Chef Bernardo Salazar was born and raised in La Paz, Bolivia. According to Salazar, “Food is the one thing that has the ability to bring families and friends together and at Royal Lahaina Resort, our guests are our ohana, our family.”
Bernardo’s rich international culinary background provides him with an innate ability to seek indigenous ingredients and utilize them creatively. After falling in love with Hawaii on a personal trip, Bernardo joined the culinary team at Royal Lahaina Resort in 2005. His close relationship with local farmers and suppliers as well as his interest in local, farm fresh produce has allowed him to transform the culinary experience at Royal Lahaina Resort into a Hawaiian delight of all that is grown in our islands.
